Full HD CMOS sensor and the DIGIC DV II image processor. The Canon
exclusive HD CMOS ensures that user can produce high resolution and
more advanced color reproduction. And with the presence of the

The presence of the exclusive DIGIC DV II always presents high

reproduction is improved here and also helps in lowering the power
consumption of the gadget. This Canon entry is known as well for the
Super Range Optical Image Stabilization that ensures better image
quality no matter how shaky the position is and all images and scenes
can be previewed in a 2.7 inches widescreen multi-angle LCD. The LCD a
bit small but reliable enough for the user’s manual focusing. Other
minor yet important features on this camcorder include the 24p cinema
mode and the HDD Still Photo Grab from the video. Users can also
expect better shooting control, advanced photo features and the Corel
Application Disc.
"The Canon HG10 was the very first hard drive based camcorder that Canon produced. Sometimes, when a company comes out with new technology, the first generation can tend to have issues. I don't think there is a camcorder available that is perfect, and it's a very solid choice for the discriminating consumer.
The pictures produced are quite spectacular. The colors are vivid even in lower light settings. The optical image stabilization is the best I have ever encountered. There is very little shake and no blur that I have seen. This is true even when zooming in or out.
It includes a big 40GB hard drive but unlike many of the other HDD camcorders, 'still' pictures can only be captured on a SD card. This can be a pain, but the pictures are great.
The controls are a little uncomfortable as they are not in the usual places. The LCD screen is quite small but is still large enough to watch. The major problem is the audio. This can be remedied with a good external mic. This may turn some people off, but considering the price, purchasing a decent external mic should be affordable.
The overall design and look is pretty standard. It looks sleek and is a fairly lightweight camcorder. I have read some reviews in which people complain about the ergonomics of the camcorder but personally I have had no problem holding the camera, working the controls, and taking great looking video.
The steepish price indicates that this is not a camcorder for the novice or those on a budget. If you know what you are doing and are comfortable using manual features (which gets the best possible quality and allows you to use some cool features) then the Canon HG10 should be at the top of the list of camcorders you need to check out. I give it 4 out of 5 stars." Carmen Diaz. Stockton. USA.
