This camcorder is lightweight, but the build quality isn't the best. It is slightly awkward to hold using just one hand, but it great when using a tripod. The controls are pretty easy to learn as long as you are willing to sit down and read the manual! The zoom is incredible and the automatic focus works extremely quickly. This is very important to me when I film my kids playing soccer. The quality of the HD picture is awesome. I couldn’t ask for higher quality, which is why I feel that the positive aspects of it make it worth owning even for the average user that is interested in taping those everyday moments in their lives. The only issue that I have with the quality of the picture is the “night vision,” if you can even call it that. Having night vision is very cool feature that will entice those that are looking for bells and whistles on their camcorder, but it is truly disappointing since it really doesn’t work well and the light on the end of the camera is a joke. Luckily, anywhere I need to tape at night is already well lit, but this could be an issue for some people. Overall, I think the canon hv20 is a great camcorder. I would definitely make the purchase again if I had to do it all over. Highly recommended :-)" Natalie Granger. Utah. USA. From Jean Richeau, Canada. What do you like most about your Canon HV20 camcorder?: The HDV video quality is astounding. Really beautiful crisp images with rich colors. It's much smaller than I expected, which is a bonus for carrying around in my bag. Good manual controls if you like that sort of thing. What do you NOT like about your camcorder?: Bit awkward to use and the controls are a bit fiddly to use because of it's compact size. Feels a bit cheap in the hand and probably wouldn't survive any kind of knocks. Anything else you would like to tell us about your camcorder?: Great value compact camcorder that produces amazing video using just automatic settings, although the handling and build quality let it down.
