"The JVC GZ-HD7 is awesome for so many reasons. I was one of the first people to own this fantastic camcorder and definitely the first of all my friends to use HDD technology. Taping directly to the hard drive has made life a lot easier.
I can download my footage to the computer, put the camcorder back in the bag and it is ready to go for the next time I need it. This saves me money from having to buy tapes or DVD’s and I also don’t need to worry about having a blank tape of DVD available. This is perfect since I can be forgetful. It has met all of my expectations as far as the HDD capability.
Every physical aspect of it is great. It's really easy to hold. The strap is tight but comfortable so it feels stable in your hand. All of the controls are easy to reach. The manual features are all simple to use even for a beginner. This is a great way to learn about how to use a camcorder manually to take better quality films. The LCD screen is just the right size and is perfect for two-handed filming. It is nice to be able to use the LCD to film rather than having to constantly keep the camcorder up to my eye. My favorite part of it is the wide lens. The entire camcorder is built to look extremely professional.
The picture quality is wonderful. Although the hype surrounding this camcorder before its release made me to believe that it would be the best quality picture to date, this is not so. It is not the highest quality available in affordable, non-professional camcorders, but it is still high quality and enables me to create home movies that look amazing on my HDTV.
I really can’t say enough good things about the JVC GZ-HD7. It has helped me to become a better filmmaker. I have even been asked to take video at a friend’s wedding. Who knows, maybe it has even helped me to realize a talent that would have gone otherwise untapped :-)" Graham Tozkat. Winnipeg. USA.
