International CES - January 2008 - This is the Mutha of all trade shows and the most important date in the digital camcorder gallery, bar none!
Every techie, geek and nerd from miles around are drawn towards it's promise of new shiny electrical toys with their sexy curvy lines. New Pro AVCHD Camcorder From Panasonic Announced - February 2008. Panasonic has just announced their new AVCHD professional camcorder, the AG-HMC150 (Pictured right), which will be available at some time in the fall. No prices yet, but I'm guessing it will be around the $4000 mark. Although Panasonic are denying it, this seriously looks like a replacement for the AG-HVX200. What they cannot deny though, is Panasonic's dedication for the AVCHD format, with this camcorder recording solely to SD/SDHC cards. This is their third AVCHD pro camcorder and the advanced imaging system of the AG-HMC150 ( three 1/3-inch CCD's & optical image stabilization) may eventually mean we see (at last) a real AVCHD contender for the HDV video quality crown. Bit rates of 13Mbps for 1080i or 720P recording, and an unspecified rate for pro-grade production. Interesting to see where that goes to as 17Mpbs has been attained by even some consumer models. Connections will include XLR audio input, HDMI out, USB, component-out, composite-out, a wired remote jack, a SD/SDHC card slot and a max card capacity of 32GB.
